Synchronize! Pro is an enhanced version of Synchronize!, Qdea's personal file synchronization software. Synchronize! Pro's enhancements are designed for file server mirroring and simplifying complex data management.
These are the enhancements to Synchronize! contained in the Pro version:
Copy AppleShare Privileges
Synchronize! Pro can copy the folder privileges of any AFP-compliant server to another server or to a local hard disk. This makes it possible to keep a "hot backup" of an AppleShare file server on another, less expensive file server, so that if the the main server fails, a backup server is immediately available on the network.
Synchronize! Pro can also backup these privileges to a local hard disk, so that the privileges can be restored if the main disk fails.
Connection Retries and Timeouts
Synchronize! Pro allows a connection to AppleTalk Remote Access or an AppleShare server to be retried a user-configurable number of times. If the connection cannot be made, the connection attempt can be aborted. This adds flexibility in situations where a server may be offline, or a telephone line may be busy.
Resolving Aliases
Synchronize! Pro adds flexibility to resolving aliases during a synchronization or backup. With Synchronize! Pro, aliases at the top-level folder only can be resolved, ignoring or copying lower-level aliases.
This is useful when using aliases to synchronize or backup a number of folders or files located in many different parts of a disk's folder hierarchy, and aliases exist at lower levels of the hierarchy.
